Marin Horizon School offers a challenging academic program combined with character enhancing life skills to help each student develop their confident voice. The curriculum is designed to ensure every student acquires a strong learning foundation, a wide set of academic knowledge, and critical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Our experienced teachers make each lesson an immersive learning experience for deep, conceptual understanding. The small student teacher ratio allows teachers to incorporate Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles that help cultivate a love for learning in every student, which motivates students to be active participants in their education. Open collaboration and an intentionally developed respect for different perspectives fosters a community that allows students to build confidence and a strong sense of character. With mixed-age classes in humanities and science, students also get opportunities to be both learners and mentors.
At Marin Horizon, students feel “seen”, “heard” and “valued” for their authentic selves. They develop self confidence to maximize learning, courage to get out of their comfort zones, and they learn to celebrate mistakes on the pathway to success.
The Toddler Program at Marin Horizon is a Montessori-inspired sanctuary designed for the unique developmental stage of 2-year-olds, an age filled with curiosity, growth, and burgeoning independence. Our skilled educators embrace these qualities, creating a nurturing and vibrant environment that sparkles with wonder, warmth, and joy. Drawing from Montessori principles, they craft a sensory-rich world that encourages toddlers to explore and connect with their surroundings. Play becomes a guided journey where touch, movement, and interaction are paths to learning.
The Primary Program is a Montessori-inspired oasis, specially designed to nurture the cherished stage of early childhood. Guided by the experienced and compassionate hands of our teachers, learning for three, four and five year olds here is a joyful exploration filled with curiosity, wonder, and creativity. Within this vibrant environment, children are encouraged to explore the world at their own pace through an array of engaging activities, purposefully designed to spark interest, and develop language, gross and fine motor skills, as well as independence.
Lower School (K - 4)
At Marin Horizon, the Lower School years are essential for our younger students as they develop their foundational skills. Our students build self-confidence and moral courage, develop their communication skills and a sense of responsibility, and practice how to work cooperatively in a joyful, safe, and academically engaging classroom setting. We celebrate our differences, share our perspectives and cultivate community partnerships with families to support the ever-changing needs of our students.
Upper School (5 - 8)
At Marin Horizon, the Upper School years are a time of exploration and development, both academically and as a responsible citizen of the world. Students are encouraged to work on self-advocacy and academic resilience as they develop critical thinking skills. Students are encouraged to celebrate differences and share their perspectives in an expanding community. The Upper School endeavors to help students take ownership of their own education and graduate with a strong sense of self and a desire to contribute positively to the world.
